Understanding the 2025 Updates to the Common App
The Common App, the platform that allows college applicants to apply to more than 1,100 higher education institutions all in one place, is getting a facelift.

What has the Common App changed?

Applicants will have a “refreshed application experience that includes an updated visual design, creating a more usable and accessible application experience.” 

Navigation and function will not be impacted.

Changes include:

• The “Common App” menu item will be changed to “My Common Application” 
• Menu items will be rearranged for easier navigation
• Updated visuals

When are the changes to the Common App being implemented?
