Born in South Korea, Ae Hee grew up in Peru and now lives in Milwaukee. She graduated from Calvin University with a bachelor’s degree in honors English and minors in ESL and writing. She went to earn a M.F.A in creative writing from the University of Notre Dame, where she was awarded an Academy of American Poets Prize. Ae Hee is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Distinguished Dissertation Fellow. In her time at the university, she has taught composition and creative writing classes and worked as the Associate Editor for the university’s literary magazine Cream City Review. In her free time, Ae Hee enjoys playing with her cat, cooking, drinking tea very slowly, reading, and writing poetry.
