Ali was born and raised in New York. Growing up right outside of the city, she fell in love with creative writing, theater and music at a young age.
As an editor for her student paper at UW, Ali helped her peers with storytelling, writing techniques and copy editing — all things she likes to work on with students when writing college essays. After graduating, she worked as a watchdog reporter in northcentral Wisconsin, covering local and state government for USA TODAY-Wisconsin, and as the State Capitol Intern for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She currently is the local government reporter for the Cap Times in Madison.
Ali helps each student achieve their best college essay by meeting them where they are and focusing on where they want to go. In her free time, Ali likes to write poetry, run along Lake Monona, watch Audrey Hepburn films and make macaroni and cheese (from the box).
