Conor grew up just outside Chicago in Brookfield, Illinois. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia to study Biochemistry with the intention of going to medical school, but after participating in undergraduate research studying tomato biochemistry, he discovered he was much more passionate about conducting research in biological sciences. This led him to pursue a PhD at UW-Madison, where he works to discover and understand new enzymes that could be useful for environmental and energy applications. Conor is passionate about sharing scientific knowledge, and has worked extensively in tutoring, teaching, and mentoring in both classroom and research settings. During college, Conor was very involved on campus. He served on the executive board of Global Medical Training, an organization that organizes student-led trips to South and Central America to deliver free healthcare to underserved rural communities. He was also a member of the run club, and volunteered frequently in the local community. In his free time, Conor enjoys exercising, volleyball, kayaking, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Conor is an experienced scientist and has a lot of advice that he could offer to any students interested in fields like medicine, research, and education.
