Education Director

Ellen grew up between the coasts, living in Swampscott, MA and Palo Alto, CA. She came to Madison for college, fell in love with the city and her husband Ben who was born and raised here, and never left. Summer is Ellen’s favorite season and nothing beats summer in Madison! When she was in college, Ellen started working at Camp Shalom as the Assistant Director which led to a 22 year long career at the Jewish Federation of Madison (JFM) working with children and families. During her time at the JFM, she taught preschool, Directed the MIdrasha Hebrew High School program, developed community activities and was lucky to spend her summer days outdoors as the Director of Camp Shalom. Ellen loves finding creative ways to engage people in learning. She is currently teaching a class of Kindergarten- Third grade students at Beth Israel Center’s afterschool Jewish education program.

Ellen is excited about working at Galin Education and really looking forward to getting to know the tutors! She is excited to focus on team-building and helping to create connections between the tutors, the Galin staff, and the families.

Ellen and her husband have 2 children, a sixth grader and a second grader. They love to spend time in their neighborhood, taking walks and having bonfires in their backyard. Ellen loves to cook, bake and garden, preferably with airpods in her ears because she is a true-crime podcast junkie!
