Jay comes to Galin following a 37 year public school career featuring 28 years teaching sixth grade followed by nine years focused on 8th grade science. Connecting those experiences were 30 years coordinating the Waunakee Summer Science Program for incoming 7th graders. This immersive, hands-on program has been considered one of Waunakee’s unique highlights. Writing and publishing curriculum and resources for other staff have been part of the journey. Upon retirement this June, Jay will join Wave Reaction in Waunakee as a trainer and member of the tech support team.
Family life in Waunakee includes his wife Denise, a third grade teacher in Waunakee and children Maddie and Ben. Maddie is a junior at Butler, and Ben is set to start his freshman year at LaCrosse this fall. Hobbies include playing electric and acoustic guitar alone and with interested others along with fishing and woodworking.
