Kerington grew up south of Madison and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. At Milwaukee, she initially majored in Secondary Math Education before ultimately deciding on Mathematics. While in the education program, she took many classes that aimed to prepare the students to become high-school math teachers. She worked as a math drop-in tutor for the Student Success Center where she was able to help students in classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to Calculus IV. Other involvements during her time at UWM included participating in Math Club, serving as Treasurer of the Milwaukee Women’s Soccer Club, founding and serving as President for the Milwaukee Handball Club, and serving as Vice President of Finance for Kappa Tau Sorority.
Kerington has had a lot of exposure to educational techniques for teaching math at a middle and high school level as a result of the secondary education classes she enrolled in at UWM. In her free time, Kerington enjoys reading, playing sports, baking, and having fun with her friends and family.
