Larry is a retired English teacher, spending the last 25 years of his career at Waunakee High School, just north of Madison. During his career he taught a variety of classes, including writing the initial curriculum for the English Department’s AP Language and Composition class. Along with teaching the class, Larry is a long-time Reader and a recent Table Leader for the national AP Language exam. He is also a Fellow with the Greater Madison Writing Project, including working their summer “”Rise Up and Write”” camps, designed for young, aspiring writers.

Since retirement Larry mentors new teachers as a member of the Dane County New Teacher Project, works as a College Essay Coach for Galin Education, and occasionally returns to the classroom as an AP Language long-term substitute teacher.

In his free time he enjoys fly-fishing, hiking and backpacking, and wilderness canoe trips. When not wandering the woods he enjoys reading, writing, and maintaining his rural property. Larry’s family includes his wife Carri, a counselor at Verona Area High School, three adult daughters, and his canine companion Tully — a rambunctious Golden Irish (Setter-Retriever).
