Lynn

Lynn has spent the last 22 years in Madison working with children of all ages. Lynn’s career in Madison started as a teacher in the special education department at Jefferson Middle School. She came to Jefferson after having received a Masters in Special Education from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she lived for just over three years. While in Salt Lake, Lynn spent her free time downhill skiing and hiking in one of the more beautiful mountain ranges that surround the city: the Wasatch (which is also the name of one of her dogs). Professionally in Salt Lake, Lynn taught English at one of the city’s alternative schools, and served as the Department Chair for the Special Education Department in a Salt Lake City junior high.

Before moving to Salt Lake, Lynn taught High School English to children with behavior disorders at an alternative high school in the suburbs of Chicago. Lynn obtained her BA in the Teaching of English from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana (Go Illini!).

After her third year at Jefferson, Lynn had her second child (each of whom benefited from their time at Galin Education – one (Charlie) is completing his sophomore year at UW Madison, and the other (Julia) will be heading to Ann Arbor this fall to start her college career as a Wolverine), and began what would be a 16-year career with the Jewish Federation of Madison.

Lynn started at JFM as the Camp Shalom Director, where she worked with 75 staff members (ages 16-25) and helped ensure that more than 400 children (Kindergarten thru 4th Grade) experience a summer that most look forward to repeating, and many will never forget. Also at JFM, Lynn served as the Pre-School Director, and the Financial Resources Director.

Lynn’s specialties include an uncanny ability to help students learn how to schedule and manage their activities, responsibilities and lessons, and how to just “relax.”
