As a tutor, Owen loves breaking down complex topics into simpler, manageable concepts. He enjoys working with students to understand the "why" behind certain things rather than just memorizing answers.
Owen grew up in New Jersey and went to high school in the Chicago suburbs, before attending the University of Chicago. As a lifelong lover of math, he double majored in Computational & Applied Math and Statistics. While at UChicago, he served as a teaching assistant for Calculus I-III and as a Resident Assistant for over 100 students. He enjoyed helping students demystify math in office hours, and being a mentor and role model for his residents in the dorms. In the summers, also worked as a tennis camp instructor teaching students in middle and high school.
After graduating, Owen worked as a consultant in Chicago for several years where he helped advise companies on a wide variety of growth initiatives. Missing his mathematical work, he decided to return to school where he is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at UW-Madison. He is a teaching assistant for one of the university's largest programming courses, and his research focuses on machine learning and applications to financial systems. Outside of school, Owen loves to play tennis, chess, cook, and attend local trivia nights in Madison!
